Former Herald Female Athlete of the Year Marissa Given will begin her junior season as one of UC Davis' top returning hitters.
The left-handed slugger was third on the Aggies last year in hitting (.280) and multiple hit games (9), recording 31 hits, including her first collegiate home run.
A versatile outfielder, Given started 42 games at all three outfield spots last year, handling 57-of-59 chances for UC Davis.
Given, who prepped at Notre Dame, was a two-time member of The Herald's All-County softball and basketball teams, setting a school record for 3-point baskets.
Her mother Laura, was a pitcher at UC Davis.
