CCS Division V semifinals
Notre Dame (14-9) vs. Castilleja (16-13) at Watsonville High, 7:30 p.m.
The top seeded Spirits are no strangers to this spot, having reached the semifinals the last seven years in either Division IV or V.
Two have resulted in CCS titles and four State Northern California tournament appearances. Notre Dame is clearly battled tested, having played in the Gabilan Division.
The Spirits and Castilleja met in the Division V semifinals in 2016 with Notre Dame posting a three set sweep.
Spencer Hagenbuch has been the catalyst for Notre Dame with nearly 700 assists this season, feeding the ball to a trio of hitters that include Meghan Amaral, Logan Riggenbach and Kennedy McDermott.
Four players have compiled over 100 digs for the Spirits, including Riggenbach and Aleaha Huihui-Martinez, whose mother played on Notre Dame's postseason teams in the 1990's.
While the Spirits swept Anzar Tuesday, the No. 4 seeded Gators needed five sets to get past Thomas More.
Castilleja finished third in the West Bay Skyline Division. It is 6-2 in its last eight matches.
