Soledad-Alisal football

Friday's game
Soledad (2-7) at Alisal (5-4), 7:30 p.m.
Three weeks ago the Aztecs were fighting to avoid the programs second winless season in its 20 year existence.
All of a sudden, a win on Friday would catapult them into the Central Coast Section playoffs as the No. 3 seed from the Mission Division.
The resurrection of Soledad starts with its defense, which produced three turnovers in beating Scotts Valley two weeks ago and scored two touchdowns in a win over Watsonville last week.
Alisal has dropped two of its last three games and is fighting the injury bug, missing two starters last week.
Still, it held a 14-10 halftime lead last week over Carmel before a pair of big plays altered the course of the game.
If Soledad is going to make a run at the postseason, it has to find a way to stop Dorian Segovia, who rushed for 244 yards last week for Alisal, and has produced 19 touchdowns this season.
Quarterback Julian Renteria is also a threat with his legs, having rushed for over 100 yards twice this fall for the Trojans.
The Aztecs can't rely on their defense outscoring their offense. Richard Urquidez has rushed for a touchdown in each of his last two games.
