Falling to San Benito is not necessary a bad thing for Palma.
Oh, failing to hold a 13-point halftime lead in a 17-13 loss to the Balers may haunt Palma for a while.
Yet, during the Chieftains last three Central Coast Section title runs, they were beaten by San Benito in the regular season.
 An omen? Perhaps.
 During their CCS Division I title runs in 2000 and 2001, Palma's only loss all year came from San Benito.
 The Chieftains hadn't tasted defeat since the Gabilan Division was formed. That was a string of 16 straight league wins.
 It's over.
 Now the attention must turn to at least claiming a share of the title and regaining momentum into the playoffs.
