Pacific Grove football

The concern I had prior to Saturday's CCS Division IV final was Sacred Heart Prep's physicality.
 It was better than advertised.
The Gators are an old school football team that punishes opponents with defense and pounds the ball on offense.
You earn your yards against the reigning two-time Division IV champions and Pacific Grove earned every yard it got in a 56-21 loss.
Sacred Heart wears down opponents offensively with a ground controlled attack that saw them chalk up nearly 500 rushing yards and produce six touchdowns.
The Gators didn't even attempt a pass until the fourth quarter. What for? Andrew Segre was rushing for 352 yards and scoring six touchdowns.
It wasn't that Pacific Grove didn't come ready to play in its first finals appearance since 2006. Sacred Heart was that good.

If PG had a defense, this would have been a better game. SHP did to them what they did to Carmel the week before. This PG team had a huge flaw. With the bowl, a Carmel would have been and PG would have been in major consideration for a play-in game. If you think this SHP team is physical and fast, you will have to se El Cerrito, a public school. 5 division 1 players and walloped Marin catholic which also is much better than Sacred Heart Prep. I think if you asked the PG players, they would play SHP again.
