It's been a special season for the Panthers, who are playing for a state title on Sunday, facing Mt. San Antonio at 2 p.m. at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.
Mt. San Antonio won the state title last year.
Hartnell (18-4-3) is one of the best defensive teams in the state, allowing just 14 goals all season. It has not given up more than two goals in one game.
Goalie Fabian Narez, who helped lead Alisal High to a Central Coast Section Division I title last year, has seven shutouts this fall between the pipes for the Panthers.
Mt. San Antonio (17-3-4) has won its last five games and is 10-1-1 in its last 12 games, knocking off Foothill 2-1 to reach the finals.
Jose Mendoza and Lorenzo Vasquez have combined for 25 goals and 60 points for the Panthers this fall while Albert Garcia and Joni Cruz have chipped in with a combined 15 goals.
