Five times this fall the Eagles came from behind to win games.
Not this time.
The magic ran out on Alvarez's record breaking 11-0 start after it was humbled by defending Division I champion San Benito in the semifinals.
The Balers are once again one of the hottest teams in the section in November, improving their playoff record to 5-0 over the last two years.
San Benito has scored 99 points in two playoff games.
One loss shouldn't dampened what Alvarez accomplished this year.
The program won its first postseason game in 13 years.
But it won't sneak up on opponents next year. The Gabilan Division will be different than the Pacific, which is where the Eagles are headed.
Yet, the difference this time is Alvarez believes it can compete in the MBL's upper division instead of hoping.
