Carmel-Pacific Grove football

Friday's Game
Carmel (9-0) at Pacific Grove (9-0), 7:30 p.m.
This is as evenly matched as these two teams have been in the 65 previous meetings, which Pacific Grove holds a 32-31-2 edge in the battle for the coveted 'Shoe'.
I mean, both are undefeated at 9-0.
Both are averaging over 46 points a game.
Both, however, are coming off shaky outings as Pacific Grove needed a one-handed catch from Jake Speed to beat King City 42-41. And the Padres rallied for a 48-34 win over Soledad.
So are we looking at a shootout?
Well, last year the two teams combined for a 'Shoe' record 93 points.
The Padres have won the last five meetings between the two teams, averaging 60.1 points a game. This year Carmel is on a record setting pace for points per game behind quarterback Connor Marden.
So is Pacfiic Grove, who has seen Luke Lowell throw for 26 touchdown passes and Speed either catch or rush for 20 touchdowns.
That being said, look for the defenses to create an opportunity for the offenses. Matt Berry has been a beast for Pacific Grove while the Padres Shane Lackey leads the team in tackles and interceptions.
