The 49ers had never finished 4-0 in the preseason until this year.
But they did go 7-0 in the preseason in both 1952 and 1954, and 5-0 in 1991 and 1992.
Yet, that didn't translate to a spot in the playoffs until 1992 when the 49ers were 14-2, falling to Dallas in the NFC Championship game, in what turned out to be Joe Montana's last year in San Francisco.
