Curtis released

Seaside graduate Tony Curtis' NFL career is at a crossroads after he was released today by the San Francisco 49ers, as they paired their roster down to 53 players.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end, who caught a touchdown pass in the preseason, can still get picked up by a team before next week's season openers.
But Curtis has now been released by the Chiefs, Eagles, Ravens and 49ers in the last 12 months.
The Herald's Male Athlete of the Year in 2001, Curtis has not played in a regular season NFL game since 2008 with Dallas.
