I have to wonder if Stevenson is in the heads of Santa Catalina -- at least when it comes to girls basketball.
Yeah, I know the Cougars were missing one of their best players in 6-3 post Michelle Briggs -- where a lot of the offense flows through.
But you can't use that as an excuse. Santa Catalina employed a six-point lead in the third quarter before the wheels came off again, dropping its seventh straight game to the three-time defending champion Pirates.
It's almost as if the Cougars were waiting for something bad to happen. And it did.
No doubt, credit goes to Stevenson. They played like a team that expected to win, a team that isn't going to hand its title over.
Pressure was put aside. Pride was on the line. And now Santa Catalina has 21 days to think about it before facing them again.
