Greenfield is expected to argue that the cancelation of its game with Stallworth — whose season was suspended for ineligible players five days ago — on Nov. 7 become a forfeit win.
Don't look for the Central Coast Section to rule in favor of them. And perhaps that is the right decision. The game was never held. I don't believe it would have ever been contested.
I do understand Greenfield's concern. If the season ended today, it would miss the playoffs based on points. A win for Stallworth would catapult them past three teams and into the playoffs.
But the playoffs are three weeks off. Greenfield can control its destiny on the field. Beat Carmel on Friday and it's playoff bound. It's that simple.
And the field is where the playoffs should be decided in the first place.
