Football thoughts

How will North Salinas — who held a 14-7 lead in the third quarter — respond after falling to Palma for the 21st straight time?
Losing tailback Chris Nguyen for any period of time is a concern for Seaside.
North County, which snapped a four-game losing streak last week, will look to stop a four-game road losing streak that dates back to last year this Saturday against Pajaro Valley.
Salinas shouldn't rest on five wins getting them into the playoffs. A sixth win would cement it.
If I'm Greenfield, I'm praying for rain. A slick ball will slow down the Padres air-attack. And Greenfield is a team that can pound the ball and chew up the clock.
Gilroy's spread offense originated from Texas Tech. Just because quarterback Jamie Jensen's numbers aren't quite as astonishing as last year doesn't mean he is having an off year. The Mustangs are averaging 48 points a game and Jensen is sitting a lot in the fourth quarter.
