turning heads on the track

Anytime an athlete sets a career best this early in the season in track with just a base in their training, the potential for something better in May exists.
Mykel Block dipped under 15 seconds in the 110 high hurdles last week for Monterey, clocking a Central Coast Section leading 14.66 seconds. It's also the fifth fastest time in the state.
Another half second is not out of the realm for Block, whose speed between the hurdles this spring has improved.
Another foot is possible for North County's Darryl Faust in the triple jump. His second phase is still weak. Yet, he leaped a CCS leading and career best 46-feet-7 1/2 last week.
Faust also shares the CCS lead in the high jump at 6-6.
Don't think that reaching the state meet last year as juniors didn't provide incentive to get back and have a better showing this spring.
