MTAL softball

It's hard to gauge a team when a league season starts so soon.
Then again, it's no secret that Stevenson is loaded in the MTAL and has won the last two MTAL titles.
1. Stevenson: Not only does it have reigning MTAL MVP Caroline Main back on the mound, but transfer catcher Nicole Burr provides a powerful bat along with firt baseman Laura McCoy, who missed all of last season with an ankle injury.
2. Carmel: The Padres have a stick of their own in Cristina Borek. Do they have the pitching to challenge Stevenson?
3. Gonzales: Forget the fact that the Spartans won just four games. Ten players are back -- eight starters. And two transfers will make an impact.
4. Santa Catalina: The Cougars will be as fundamentally strong as any team in the league. That alone will give them a couple of extra wins.
5. Pacific Grove: While the Breakers have an MVP type pitcher, the supporting cast is young and needs to mature.
6. King City: Seeing its pitcher and shortstop transfer will be felt.
7. Soledad: The Aztecs are capable of playing at a higher level.
8. Greenfield: Growing pains are expected when you don't have a lot of softball experience.
