Friday's game
Vacaville Christian (2-0) vs. Marina (0-1) at MPC, 6 p.m.
Having already surpassed last year's entire win total in the first two games of the season, the Falcons have outscored their first two opponents 74-23.
With just 20 players in the entire program, Vacaville Christian is part of the Sierra Delta Division in the SAC Joaquin Section.
Quarterback Gabe Helmer has thrown for 408 yards and four touchdowns for the Falcons, adding 98 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Marina was shutout in its opener against Seaside. Darren Gabot did recover a fumble, while Anthony Garcia forced a fumble and recorded a sack.
It's unlikely that the Mariners will face another defense like Seaside's the rest of the fall. Quarterback Michael Barrera is coming off a record breaking passing season in 2018 as a junior.
Marina has to do a better job of opening holes for the likes of tailback Danh Le. The program has not dropped two straight games to open a season since going winless in 2014.
