Gonzales (2-1) vs. North Salinas (0-3) at Rabobank, 7:30 p.m.
Defense dictated the Spartans fate last week as nine sacks - including three on the final drive - sealed their second straight win.
North Salinas is still searching for its first win and an identity on defense, having allowed 113 points in its last two games.
The first quarter has been a thorn in the Vikings side, having been outscored 63-13. Gonzales has had its struggles as well in the opening 12 minutes, mustering just seven points.
Jose DeLeon has thrown for over 400 yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans, while rushing for three touchdowns. Teammate Jose Lopez has rushed for at least one touchdown in all three games.
Lopez has been a two-headed demon for Gonzales, leading the team in tackles. Erick Quezada's sack in the fourth quarter last week secured a 14-10 win over Soledad.
North Salinas held a lead in the second quarter last week against Alvarez before being outscored 28-8.
Marius Castro caught two touchdown passes last week for the Vikings, giving him three on the year. Isaiah Orozco provides balance in the ground game.
The last time these two teams faced each other was in 2005 when North Salinas posted a 27-8 win.
