Santa Cruz-Alisal football

Friday's game
Santa Cruz (1-2) at Alisal (1-2), 7:30 p.m.
Two programs that got off to solid starts to the season have stumbled of late, dropping their last two games.
Both have suffered similar trends as Santa Cruz gave up a late touchdown in a Week 2 loss, while the Trojans allowed 21 unanswered points in watching a Week 2 lead disappear.
Quentin Brown has gone over 100 yards rushing in two games for the Cardinals, while quarterback Dillon Tanner threw for over 200 yards in a Week 2 loss to Scotts Valley.
Alisal has got to get back to its identity after a 41-6 setback to Terra Nova and that's grinding the ball on the ground, limiting its mistakes and eating up the clock.
In a opening season win over Gonzales, the Trojans racked up over 300 rushing yards. Last week the Cardinals gave up over 200 yards on the ground, including four rushing touchdowns.
Andrei Ravas was bottled up last week for Alisal, while Benny Chuca had a 48-yard touchdown run late in the game against Terra Nova.
The last known meeting between these two schools took place in the mid 1980's, when both where members of the old Monterey Bay League.
