Saturday morning thoughts

Impression: Salinas' offense, which has produced 182 points in its last four games. And its defense, which has allowed just 17 during the same period.
End of a drought: Soledad snaps a nine-game losing streak, going on the road and defeating Scotts Valley 20-14. It was Scotts Valley that ended the Aztecs season last year in the playoffs.
Streaks: Dating back to last year, Carmel has won 12 straight games. Dating back to 2016, Salinas has won 13 straight Gabilan Division games. Gonzales is rattled off nine straight wins.
Blowout city: Five games were decided by 35 points or more, which means we had running clocks in the second half in half the games.
Looking ahead: Showdowns are looming between Palma and Aptos, Alisal and Carmel, as well as Gonzales and Stevenson.
Numbers: Payton Flores rushes for four touchdowns for Gonzales while teammate Raul Morales has three touchdown passes and rushes for one. Grant Sergent has two touchdown passes and rushes for one for Palma. Dylan Oliveros tosses two touchdowns, runs for a touchdown and catches one for King City. Franky Albert throws four touchdown passes for Pacific Grove, with Ben Minik catching three of them.
