Terra Nova-Alisal football

Friday's game
Terra Nova (2-0) at Alisal (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
The fact that the Tigers were willing to come to Alisal and play is a sign of respect for the Trojans program.
Last season Terra Nova thumped Salinas and knocked Palma from the Central Coast Section Open Division III playoffs.
It opened this season with a 49-14 statement win over San Benito, and has outscored two opponents 70-24.
These two teams are polar opposites in that the Trojans like to pound the ball behind fullback Dorian Segovia while Terra Nova will air it out with its attack.
Quarterback Jared Julian has thrown for 397 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers. He is also a threat with his legs, leading the team in rushing with 158 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, Layne Couri has been a menace in the middle in stuffing the run for the Tigers with 31 tackles in two games.
Alisal racked up over 500 rushing yards in its opener, than pounded the ball with Segovia rushing for three touchdowns last week to end a five year losing streak to Alvarez.
Contain Segovia and deal with Julian Renteria, who chalked up 181 yards in the teams opener. Don't discount Israel Corona's speed, as he piled up 135 yards in Week 1.
Controlling the ball means keeping Terra Nova's offense off the field. Renteria, though, may have to put the ball in the air a time or two to keep the opponent from putting nine in the box.
