Looking to build off an impressive non-conference performance, the Otters will open the California Collegiate Athletic Association season tonight at Humboldt State.
The Otters have won five of the last six meetings between the two rivals, sweeping the season series last year.
For the eighth straight match, CSUMB is on the road, a trend that will continue through the weekend when it visits Sonoma State on Saturday.
An argument can be made that complacency set in for both of the Otters losses this year, falling to a Pt. Loma team that started the year 1-4.
CSUMB is a dangerous team when it's working as one, as Anela Visesio has gone over 700 kills for her career with 82 through the teams first seven matches.
Support has emerged from sophomore Jenna Tobin, who has compiled 62 kills while Baylie Pierson has gotten into the rotation with 42.
All are feeding off of sets from San Benito grad Erica Chapa, who has recorded 253 assists in 24 sets this fall.
Defensively Ashlynne Armstrong has produced 112 digs for the Otters to go along with a team high 10 service aces while Tobin has 71 digs.
With a pair of wins this weekend, CSUMB can equal the programs best start ever.
