Friday's game
Alisal (0-0) at Live Oak (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
The Acorns bring back one of the top returning quarterbacks in the CCS in Jonathan Singleton, who threw for nearly 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns last fall.
Singleton also rushed for nearly 500 yards and five touchdowns last season for Live Oak, who went 7-5, beating Alisal 34-13 in its season opener.
In last years opener, Singleton threw for three touchdowns and rushed for a pair.
AJ Gustaveson and his 700 rushing yards are back for Live Oak as well. Singleton has a new group of receivers as over 100 receptions and 1,900 plus receiving yards has graduated.
Alisal is coming off an historic season, in which it went 7-2 after an 0-3 start, capturing the programs first ever postseason game.
The Trojans aren't flamboyant or flashy. They are going to run the ball behind a punishing offensive line anchored by 6-foot-4, 300-pounder Isaac Duenas.
During Alisal's school record six game winning streak last year, its defense allowed just 10.2 points a game. In its five losses, that number ballooned to 32.1 points a game.
Alisal has dropped its last five season openers.
