Seaside-Alvarez boys hoops

Considering that the Spartans played most of the preseason without at least two starters, it fared far better than expected in winning four non-league games.
So the expectation tonight is Seaside will play much better than it did back on Dec. 13, when it was hammered 77-35 by Alvarez in the Scattini Tournament.
With eight players back from last year's playoff team, the Eagles are one of the preseason favorites in the Pacific Division, closing non-league play with a pair of wins.
Alvarez has relied on its balance with Marc Flores earning all-tournament honors at the Steinback Classic. Danny Aguillon and Devin Foster are key components to the offense.
The Spartans attack runs through Matthew Briscoe, who has had three games with 30 or more points, including a career high 42 in a loss to Monterey.
Last winter five of Seaside's six wins came on the road, including a 56-53 win at Alvarez.
