Don't be mislead by the Cowboys 2-3-1 non-league record.
If you've watched this program during its run of three straight Gabilan Division titles, its non-league record is never spectacular.
While it's not by design, Salinas' preseason is loaded with opponents that are among the elite in the Central Coast Section.
You can't take that next step without challenging the teams in front of you.
If anything, it has prepared Salinas for league play, as evident by its 30-1-5 Gabilan Division record over the last three years.
In fact, the Cowboys have improved in the win column in league play in each of the last three years.
The one league opponent to defeat them during their three-year run was San Benito in 2016.
What the Cowboys would like to see is a little more balance offensively. Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo bound Brooke Oleson has produced all eight of the teams goals.
Of course, she has had help from the likes of Taylor Burbank and her three assists and reigning two-time league MVP Kimi Chin.
While Salinas has allowed just nine goals in six games, seven have come in the second half.
