Monte Vista-Monterey boys hoops

Monte Vista is a sleeper team in the Gabilan Division. It is one basket away from being locked in a tie at the top at 3-1 instead of 2-2.
Monterey is all two familiar with the Mustangs, having had to rally from a nine point deficit last year to post a six point win, then holding off a late charge for a two point decision to sweep the series.
Since falling to Alisal, the Toreadores have won three straight behind the Adam brothers, Mohanid and Mohammed, who are averaging a combine 32 points a game.
The foursome that helped Monterey to a Central Coast Section Division III title last winter have not disappointed as Evans Charles and Tahjae Ordonio are both averaging over 12 points a night.
Where the Mustangs present challenges is in the paint where 6-foot-10 Lucas Schmidt disrupts shots with his size and long arms.
Which means Monterey will have to have some success from the perimeter, where it has knocked down 119 3-point goals this year.
League opponents are averaging 58 points a game against Monte Vista. In its three league wins, the Toreadores are averaging 79 points a game.
