Alvarez-North Salinas boys hoops

As odd of a preseason as it was for North Salinas, it appears a corner has been turned in league play.
Injuries, illnesses, cohesiveness on the court and even scheduling conflicts - two games played in the same day - left the Vikings with a 2-10 non-league mark.
Put it in the rear view mirror. Tonight North Salinas hosts Alvarez in a battle of co-leaders in the Pacific Division at 3-1.
The Vikings are coming off their biggest win of the season, knocking off Seaside 66-62 in overtime to create a three-way tie at the top.
Since falling to Seaside in its season opener, Alvarez has won three straight games, in which three different players have led the team in scoring.
Among them is Danny Aguillon, who is averaging 18 points a game during the Eagles run. Devin Foster has put up a pair of 20 point outings while Isaiah Rodriguez had a season 26 against Gilroy.
The strength of the Vikings starts with Rico Vega, who had 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday to force overtime in the win over Seaside.
Keith Johnson has given North Salinas another option along while Christopher Sibal has been clutch in a pair of league wins.
Last season the Vikings swept the season series with Alvarez. The Eagles have made seven straight postseason appearances.
