Projected volleyball finishes

Projected volleyball finishes
Mission Trail Athletic League
1. Santa Catalina: Four starters are back from last year's squad that opened the year with 27 straight wins, capturing the programs first CCS Division V title.
2. Carmel: Soana Laulotu is going to see a lot of sets this fall from Emma Crabbe. The Padres are 50-6 over the last four years in the MTAL.
3. King City: Just once in the last 36 years have the Mustangs failed to make the postseason. Grace Shepherd and setter Megan Flores have chemistry you can't coach.
4. Soledad: The Aztecs could be your sleeper team in terms of improvement, as eight players are back from last season.
5. Stevenson: Improvement in the win column in each of the last three years has the program going in the right direction. But graduation took five starters from the Pirates.
6. Pacific Grove: Forget the 2-9 start to last season. The Breakers hope their 4-5 finish will carry over into this fall
7. Gonzales: High expectations will be tamed down this season as the Spartans are in a rebuilding phase after losing four starters, including the 2015 league MVP.
8. Anzar: Can go nowhere but up this year after winning just one match, with 14 of their losses being sweeps.

Monterey Bay League
Gabilan Division
1. San Benito: Why are people overlooking the reigning two-time league champions, who have eight players and two all-leaguers back in the fold, including Laruen Sabbatini and her 318 kills.
2. Salinas: It's not the impressive start that gets your attention. It's the talent level at Salinas. Taylor Rose is primed for a big year. And Savanna Maker is an imposing figure at 6-4.
3. Monte Vista: The defending Central Coast Section Division IV champions have five players back from last year's school record 26 win team.
4. Notre Dame: Who steps up at the net will be critical for Notre Dame, who lost its top four hitters to graduation, but does return setter Spencher Hagenbuch and her 800 plus sets.
5. Christopher: The Cougars could create some mismatches with their size. All of their non-league wins have been by sweeps.
6. Alvarez: Two straight sweeps to open the season has the Eagles believing they can be a playoff team this fall.
7. Alisal: The reward for a Pacific Division title is a trip to the Gabilan. The problem is graduation gutted the Trojans.

Pacific Division
1. Monterey: A return to the Pacific isn't the only reason the Toreadores are contenders. Jhailyn Bryant is one of the leagues top hitters.
2. North Salinas: If you're looking for a darkhorse, don't sleep on the Vikings, who return all-league hitter Teresa Ochoa and a handful of players from last seasons second place team.
3. Seaside: The Spartans lost four matches that went five sets last fall with a youthful unit. Reverse that this year and this is a playoff team.
4. Gilroy: Closing last season with three straight wins and four of their last five - with a lineup filled with youth - has energized the Mustangs this fall.
5. Watsonville: The Wildcatz played the role of spoilers last season with late season wins over North Salinas and Seaside, costing both potential playoff spots.
6. Pajaro Valley: Three straight wins to open this season has the Grizzlies one win shy of equaling last year's entire win total.
7. North County: It's going to take time for the Condors to restore the pride, get players to buy into the system and rebuild the program.

Coastal Athletic League
1. Oakwood: The reigning league champions have won 28 straight CAL matches and are 34-1 over the last three league seasons.
2. York: All-leaguer Jesslyn de Anda is back at the net for the Falcons, whose only league losses last year came from Oakwood.
3. Pacific Collegiate: Once upon a time the Pumas owned the CAL, winning six league titles in a seven year span.
4. Marina: Coming off a school record for wins, the Mariners are young with eight underclassmen, including junior Elicie Leuma-Burks, who lead the team in aces last fall.
5. Trinity: Will look to forget the end of last season, where Trinity dropped its last four and seven of its last eight matches after a 3-1 start to league play.
6. Greenfield: Despite having gone 3-24 over the last two years, there's reason for optimism on the Bruins campus.
7. Kirby: The Griffins haven't had a winning season since 2010, when they set a school record for wins with nine.
