MPC-Yuba football

Saturday's games
MPC (0-0) at Yuba (0-0), 6 p.m.
The reigning conference co-champion Lobos are coming off a record tying 10 win season, which concluded with a bowl win.
Last fall MPC shutout Yuba 25-0, with returning receiver Matteo D'Alfonso starting the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown catch.
D'Alfonso caught 24 passes last season while Michael Armstead grabbed 45 catches for nearly 1,000 yards before a knee injury ended his season in Week 9.
Zack Kearney was impressive in the Lobos scrimmage last week out of the backfield, with his hard nose running and touchdown reception, as was San Benito alum Hunter Nye.
Anchoring that Lobos defense will include Anthony Saavedra, who finished with 70 tackles and nine pass breakups last fall. Dylan Beechum was a demon on defense for MPC.
While MPC averaged nearly 32 points a game, Yuba managed just 23.5 in a 3-7 season. While it is breaking in a new quarterback, three receivers that combined for 11 touchdowns are back.
Yuba was actually plus six in turnover ratio last season while the Lobos were just plus one. Jordan Bernal is expected to start at quarterback for MPC.
