Hartnell-Foothill football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (0-0) at Foothill (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Owls closed last fall with five straight losses in finishing 2-8 - winless at home - while Hartnell went to its fourth straight bowl game.
Foothill was one of the lowest scoring teams in the state at 16 points a game, which is what it scored in a 30-16 loss to the Panthers last fall.
It won't hurt having Avery McMullin behind center for the Owls, as the sophomore threw for nearly 1,300 yards last year in seven games.
Taking care of the ball was an issue for Foothill last fall as it turned it over 32 times, finishing minus 13 in turnover ration.
The Panthers closed last year with three consecutive losses. One of those setbacks came in the final 17 seconds. The other was a one-point bowl game loss to Merced.
The return of J'uan Campbell gives Hartnell an explosive receiver, who will also handle kickoff and punt return duties.
While the offense works on building chemistry with so many new faces, the Panthers will rely on a defense anchored by Angel Maldonado and Matt Wright.
Maldonado compiled 8 1/2 sacks last year for Hartnell while Wright finished with four sacks coming off the edge.
Hartnell was 4-1 at home last year, but just 2-4 on the road.
