Friday's game
Gonzales (0-4) at Soquel (2-2), 7:30 p.m.
The start of league play means a fresh start for the Spartans, who continue to focus on changing the course of direction in the program.
Having gone 1-15 dating back to 2015, Gonzales has really struggled in the third quarter, having been outscored 47-0.
Seth Mays was a bright spot for the running game last week for the Spartans, rushing for over 100 yards and a touchdown.
The Spartans have shown big play potential as three receivers are averaging over 15 yards a catch. But the passing game is completing less than 40 percent of its passes.
Soquel has already equaled last year's entire win total. Nolan Maas has rushed for over 600 yards this fall while Andrew Keller has six rushing touchdowns.
Three of the Knights four games have been decided by 10 points or less. Mass has rushed for over 200 yards twice this season.
