Scotts Valley-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
Scotts Valley (2-1) at Pacific Grove (1-3), 7:30 p.m.
Going outside its comfort zone in Week 2 resulted in a 42-point pasting by CCS power Terra Nova. At the same time, it didn't rattle the confidence of Scotts Valley.
Instead, the Falcons bounced back and knocked off previously undefeated Monte Vista, providing fuel going into its first season in the Mission Trail Athletic League's Mountain Division.
Bridesmaids to Aptos five of the last six years in the old Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League, Scotts Valley has little history with opponents in the Mountain Division, other than Carmel.
Ryan Conte is coming off a 218 yard rushing effort for the Falcons, who have allowed just 26 points in their two wins.
The Breakers have given up 98 points in two losses on the field, having been outscored 28-6 in the first quarter. In their one win, they allowed just six points.
Sophomore quarterback Ben Minik has been a bright spot offensively for Pacific Grove, throwing for 92 yards last week while rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown two weeks ago.
