Carmel football

Taking their foot off the peddle isn't something the Padres have been known for during their run of supremacy the last eight years.
When Carmel had a team on the ropes, it buried them.
That has disappeared at times this year. And each time it has come back to haunt them.
The Padres have led in all five games this season, holding 21 and 14 point leads in the second half against two opponents.
Yet what transpired in both games was failure to score another point. The offense disappeared. When Gilroy and Soledad mounted comebacks, Carmel didn't have an answer.
The result has the Padres sitting at 2-3 with a trip to Scotts Valley on the horizon this Friday in what now becomes a must win for title hopes.
I don't think two league losses wins a title this year in the revised MTAL Mission Division. Carmel has not lost two games in a league season in nine years.
It's not hard to figure out where things have gone wrong for Carmel. In its two wins, it has outscored opponents 35-0 in the third quarter.
But in its three setbacks, it has been outscored 43-7. That one touchdown came on special teams. The invincibility the Padres once possessed has disappeared.
