Friday's game
Pacific Grove (0-1) at Orestimba, Newman (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
The Warriors were impressive in opening the season with a 48-20 win over Mendota -- avenging a 36-0 loss to them last fall.
Orestimba's 37-6 win over Pacific Grove last year ignited them on a 10 game winning streak before falling to Amador in the SAC Joaquin Section playoffs.
The Breakers can expect to see an aerial assault, as Jacob Bettencourt opened the year by throwing for 338 yards and four touchdowns for Orestimba.
Pacific Grove has got to get some pressure on Bettencourt and not let Tyler Vargas out of their sight, as he is coming off a seven catch, 200 yard, two touchdown effort.
Junior quarterback Hunter Hanes was a bright spot for the Breakers in a 41-18 season opening loss to Watsonville, rushing for 118 yards and throwing for 98 yards and a scoring strike.
The Breakers ran just 30 plays last week, with Hanes having a hand in 26 of them. The lack of depth and youth took its toll in the second half as they were outscored 21-0.
