Live Oak-Alisal football

Friday's game
Live Oak (0-0) at Alisal (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Coming off a nine-win season, which included a stop in the CCS Open Division III semifinals, the Acorns return quarterback Jonathan Singleton.
Last fall as a sophomore, the gunslinger threw for nearly 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns, and rushed for 301 yards.
Live Oak did lose over 100 receptions to graduation and a 1,000 yard tailback. Senior Cole Davis did rush for nearly 700 yards as a second option last season.
The Trojans have dropped four straight season openers and seven of their last eight. The last time the two teams played each other was in 2005 with Alisal prevailing 16-9.
After an 0-8 start last season, Alisal won its last two games, outscoring opponents 57-6. Prior to that, it had only scored 86 points in its first eight games.
That energy has carried over behind quarterback Andrew Marquez and tailback Francisco Rosales, who both scored a pair of touchdowns in last week's City Jamboree.
