Facing postseason elimination two weeks ago, the Toreadores won their fourth straight game with a 3-1 decision over Salinas in eight innings.
The win was significant in that it pushed Monterey a game in front of Monte Vista Christian for the fifth playoff spot out of the Gabilan Division.
The Toredores will close the season on Thursday, hosting Monte Vista. The teams split their first two games, each winning on their field.
Monterey has made 26 straight Central Coast Section postseason appearances.
 During this late season surge, the Toreadores have beaten Gabilan Division champion San Benito and Palma.
