Greenfield baseball

In looking back, we should have seen this coming.
The Bruins sent a message in the first week of league play when they swept a two game series with reigning Mission Trail Athletic League champion Carmel.
What made the wins so significant is Greenfield had never beaten the Padres since the school opened its doors in the fall of 1999.
Confidence? I'd say so. What transpired was a single season school record for league wins (13) and overall (16).
And now the Bruins are getting a taste of the postseason for the first time in the programs 18 years, as they will visit Terra Nova today in the CCS Division II tournament.
Anchored by Tony Castro, the Bruins pitching staff has posted six shutouts this season, including the last three wins, with Castro earning four of the six shutouts.
Castro has also supplied a consistent bat at the plate for Greenfield along with JJ Rodriguez, Ubaldo Trujillo and Daniel Mendoza.
