CCS softball postseason

The journey to a Central Coast Section divisional softball title will take four games for all teams this season.
With the adoption of the Open Division this spring, there are no byes for the top four seeds in either of the three divisions.
Meaning all 40 teams will be in action today with the start of the postseason.
Division II top seed Notre Dame is taking aim at a fifth straight finals appearance, having fallen in the CCS Division III finals last year to Half Moon Bay.
The Spirits will open the postseason against Mercy-Burlingame while No. 2 seed and Mission Trail Athletic League champion Carmel will host The Kings Academy.
Notre Dame and Carmel are each 21-6 this spring. No. 10 Pacific Grove will visit Saratoga while No. 12 Santa Catalina will travel to Capuchino.
The Padres have won seven straight games -- six by 10 or more runs. In fact, 11 of their 14 league wins this past spring were by 10 or more runs.
After opening the season with 12 straight wins, the Spirits went just 9-6 in their final 15 games. They are 4-0 against teams in the Division II playoffs.
