Greenfield-King City baseball

No doubt the schedule in the first half of the Mission Trail Athletic League season benefited both programs in their fast starts.
It's also provided a confidence boast as both the Bruins and King City find themselves in a pennant race with eight games left in the MTAL season.
Greenfield got off to a record breaking 8-0 start and is 9-1 going into its battle with its rivals to the south. It is also looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Mustangs
A pair of setbacks to 10-0 Pacific Grove earlier this year all of a sudden doesn't look so bad on King City's record.
What has followed is five straight wins behind the bats of Carson Caulk, David Ortiz and Tommy Stephens.
Since giving up 19 runs in two losses to Pacific Grove, the Mustangs pitching staff has allowed 11 runs during their five game winning streak.
Pitching and timely hitting has carried the Bruins, who have relied on the arms of  Oscar Hernandez and Tony Castro, along with the bats of Ubaldo Trujillo, Daniel Mendoza and JJ Rodriguez.
