Wednesday's game
Central Coast Section Division V semifinals
No. 2 Priory (20-5) vs. No. 3 Stevenson (17-8) at Santa Clara High, 7:30 p.m.
Not only is this a rematch of last year's Division V quarterfinals, but the Pirates and Priory met in the Coach Wilson Tournament in Pebble Beach.
Both times the Panthers prevailed, posting a 68-47 win last season enroute to a CCS Division V title and a 48-37 win back in December -- Stevenson's lowest point production of the year.
Of course, Priory was four games into its season while the Pirates had just gotten their full team after an extended football season.
Runner-ups in the West Bay Division to Menlo this past season, the Panthers have eight returning players from last year's CCS title team that reached the State Nor Cal Division V quarterfinals.
Among them is 6-foot-9 double-double machine Emmanuel Ajanaku-Makun. Four different players average eight or more points a game for Priory, including 6-5 junior Lucas Harris.
Three of Stevenson's four Mission Trail Athletic League losses this year were by three points or less. Three of their league losses came without Parker Olin in the lineup.
The 6-foot-3 guard has looked like a player trying to make up for missing most of the league season, averaging over 24 points a game since his return.
As dynamic as Olin has been since returning, the Pirates are far from one dimensional as Ben Stork is averaging over 13 points a game while Winston Elstob sits at just under 10 points a night.
A common opponent is Kelseyville, who Stevenson defeated 67-48, a day after the Panthers fell by 10.
