Jefferson-Monterey boys hoops

Wednesday's game
Central Coast Section Division III semifinals
No. 3 Jefferson (19-9) vs. No. 2 Monterey (23-3) at St. Ignatius, 5:30 p.m.
Demons from the past have been exercised.
Then again, I'm not sure this current core of Toreadores was feeling the heat of snapping a playoff quarterfinal losing streak that stretched back before any of them were born.
All of it doesn't matter today as Monterey is one step away from going to the Central Coast Section Division III finals for the first time.
Monterey was clutch in the fourth quarter against Riordan in last Saturday's quarterfinals, especially  sophomore Mohammed Adam, who drained three 3-point goals.
The Toreadores have knocked down over 150 3-point goals this year, with brothers Tahjae and Kobe Ordonio have buried a combined 91.
The Grizzlies went 10-2 in the Peninsula North Division behind Half Moon Bay, beating Sobrato of Morgan Hill 58-43 in the first round.
The teams share one common opponent in Santa Clara, who Monterey defeated 67-47 en route to its 17-0 start. Jefferson fell in overtime 51-48. The games were played seven days apart.
