Monterey-Monte Vista boys hoops

With an anticipated showdown with Palma creeping up on the schedule, the 16-0 Toreadores can not afford to look past a Monte Vista program that will cause concerns with its size.
Lucas Schmidt and his 6-foot-10 frame have created problems for a lot of opponents, averaging 13.8 points and 12.5 rebounds a game.
Named to the Damian Lillard all-tournament team last month, the junior was a headache last year for Monterey.
What's different about Monterey this season is defense and discipline, and a balanced scoring attack, which is keeping teams from focusing on stopping Kobe Ordonio.
The sophomore fab four of brothers Mohammed and Mohanid Adam, along with Evans Charles and Ordonio's little brother Tahjae, have showed more than promise.
The four are averaging nearly 40 points a game between them. In fact, the high scoring Toreadores have four players averaging over 10 points a game.
While Monterey has had winning streaks of 18 and 20 over the last decade, it has never started a season 17-0.
