Seaside football

In time, the Spartans will look back and cherish what was achieved this season in winning 10 games and a Pacific Division title.
However, there's a price for winning league titles in equity leagues.
Seaside will likely be ticketed back to the Gabilan Division next year. History shows that the Pacific champion gets pulled up. That's why it's an equity league.
Yet, in this case, I'm not sure this is a good decision for the Spartans program.
Sure, the Spartans have improved in the win column in each of the last three years. But it wasn't like it dominated the Pacific Division this past season.
One win was by a point. Another was by two. Twice Seaside was trailing at halftime.
And the Spartans are losing arguably their two best offensive players in quarterback Malik Jeter and tailback Keishawn Robinson.
That's a lot of offense to replace in a power division.
Jeter is also one of the teams top defensive players, as is linebacker Tristian Beza, who led the team in tackles.
I don't put any stock into freshmen or junior varsity records. Varsity is a completely different animal. Any impact sophomore is already up.
No doubt, Christopher needs to come down. It is 0-12 since being pushed into the Gabilan. Another option from the Pacific to go up could be Gilroy.
While it was the runner-ups in the Pacific Division, tailback and 1,500 yard rusher Joseph Barnes is just a sophomore. The quarterback is a junior. You have parts to at least be competitive.
Seaside could compete in the Gabilan. Yet, with enrollment shrinking, no Division V school belongs in an 'A' league.
