Marina-King City football

Friday's game
Marina (1-7) at King City (3-5), 7:30 p.m.
While the Mustangs are going to miss the postseason for the 10th straight year, salvaging the fall by winning their final two games could provide momentum for 2017.
Quarterback Tommy Stephens is a junior while his primary target Clay Barbree, will also be back next season.
King City has given itself a chance in all five Mission Trail Athletic League games, falling by three to unbeaten Carmel and seven to reigning league tri-champion Soledad.
Stephens has thrown for over 600 yards in his last two games. He has also rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns.
What has hurt King City all season has been the fourth quarter, where it has been outscored 62-35. Two of its losses came when it held the lead or was tied in the fourth.
Injuries have crippled the Mariners this year. The offense has witnessed four different players taking snaps behind center.
Marina's defense has given up 40 or more points in all seven losses. It has allowed more points than any other team in the county.
