Fathers Day thoughts

The most important lesson a father taught some of these giants.

Andrew Franks, Carmel grad. Miami Dolphins kicker
The lesson I learned from my father was how to work. Not in an industry, but how to work towards a goal and future -- to give everything you have if it's important to you, and keep working until you achieve it, whatever goal that may be.

Mason Foster, Seaside grad, Washington Redskins linebacker
My dad still says it today. Make good decisions. Make good decisions while you train, with your diet and the way you take care of your body. Make good decisions off the field, with the people you associate with and the way you carry yourself. He use to say anytime we left the house, if we make good decisions, we will be alright.

Monica Abbott, North Salinas grad, pro softball pitcher
To be consistent in all things when you are trying to achieve your goals. Never give up.

Herm Edwards, Monterey and MPC alum. Former NFL player and coach. ESPN analyst.
Be a man of integrity. Your words and your life must match up. Don't live your life just to make a living. Make sure you make a difference in other people's lives.

Al Avila, Seaside grad, Seaside head football coach and teacher
The first thing that comes to mind is always love and be there for your family whether they are doing good or not doing well. And always respect your elders even if you think they don't deserve it.
