Notre Dame volleyball

Emotions are tamed when expectations remain.
There’s a bigger prize that Notre Dame is chasing this volleyball season.
A second straight Central Coast Section Division V volleyball title isn’t a bad start.
The Spirits made quick work of Santa Catalina Saturday, much like they have throughout the playoffs this season.
Which might explain the reason for a calm celebration on Saturday after defending its Division V title.
Notre Dame coach Veronica Companion said action has to match the words.
The Spirits aren't mincing words. State isn't just a goal, it's an expectation.
The path becomes a little more difficult now.
Notre Dame has been close on three previous occasions, coming within one win of playing for the state championship last year.
Only two programs in Monterey County have ever reached the state finals in King City in 1990 and Salinas in 2009.
The experience gained last year was invaluable in the mind of outside hitter Nikki DeSrpa
"The chemistry is a little better this year,'' DeSerpa added.
At times, it looked like Notre Dame just toyed with opponents in the CCS playoffs. No one produced more than 18 points against them in nine postseason sets.
Yet, if complacency set in, the Spirits fought through it. Room for error is minimal from this point forward.
