Year of the tight end

As passing attacks continue to be enhanced, the tight end position has become a strength of power for a handful of teams.
You can make an argument that the three best receivers in the county this year are all tight ends.
John Stivers, who came into the season with 101 receptions for Carmel, is often the first player an opposing coach talks about as a concern.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior is as big as some lineman, yet possess breakaway speed in the open field with sure hands. And he's a devastating blocker on runs.
A broken ankle suffered last season kept Liam McMillin off college radars. That's changing for the Palma senior, who has become the teams primary target.
McMillin keeps finding seams across the middle to position his 6-3, 215 pound frame into. Yet, it's his yards after the catch that should be getting college's attention.
Hidden down in south county his Jarod Davis, who missed all of last fall for King City with a knee injury.
A chiseled 230 pounds, Davis doesn't look fast until you see him blowing past a defensive back on a deep route. And he's also a punishing blocker.
Davis' brother Jake played at Cal.
While he won't see as many passes, Matthew Wright is an imposing target for Monterey, averaging nearly 20 yards a catch this fall with a sore shoulder.
