It's hard not to be encouraged by the youth that surrounds the Spartans program.
Yet, some might argue that the future is now for Seaside.
When coach Al Avila says his babies are growing up, he's not kidding.
Avila didn't bring up a half dozen sophomores this fall to sit and watch.
As the growing pains subside, Seaside has put itself in contention to compete for a Pacific Division title with two straight wins.
There's a little thunder and lightening going on in the Spartans backfield with Keishawn Robinson slicing through defenses and DeMarcus Hawkins punishing opponents between the tackles.
The pair compliment each other.
Guess what. Neither is a senior.
The same can be said for sophomore Malik Jeter, who provides another option on the outside, but is a fierce hitter on defense, bringing that Seaside tradition back along with Fernando Avila.
What the Spartans lack is depth. We witnessed that first hand during a two-game skid when seven starters were out.
But with two wins this fall by three points and one, Seaside is battle tested for the final four games. Hope has turned to belief.
