Soledad football

I believe the word head coach Frankie Berlanga used to describe quarterback Eric Martinez before the season started was 'magic'.
Martinez was magical in the Aztecs final tune-up before the start of Mission Trail Athletic League play on Friday, tossing three touchdown passes while rushing for one.
The senior isn't afraid to go to his second or third reads, as two of his touchdown passes last Friday went to Johnny Sanchez, who came into the game with just one catch.
Yet, what was equally pleasing was the Aztecs defense, which didn't allow a point until the fourth quarter and the lead was 34 points.
For the second straight week, Soledad's defense produced a touchdown as Andrew Hernandez ran back a fumble 82 yards for six.
Soledad's first unit on defense has not given up a point in two games this year. A confidence builder was important with reigning MTAL champion Pacific Grove next.
