Salinas football

Salinas coach Steve Goodbody always talks about wanting his team playing its best football in November.
 How about September?
If the defending Gabilan Division co-champion Cowboys aren't ahead of schedule, this could be a dangerous team in six weeks.
Salinas is playing at another level right now, having outscored its last two opponents 82-6.
 Don't blame the competition.
Pioneer went to the playoffs last year by going 8-1 down the stretch while North Salinas has been projected the favorites in the Pacific Division this fall.
Quarterback Matt Castaneda is coming into his own behind center, having thrown for nearly 300 yards on Friday while rushing for over 100, accounting for four touchdowns.
While he's not a Zach McDermott clone, he's certainly putting up similar numbers, spreading the ball around the field.
Salinas' up-tempo attack wears down defenses. Yet, defense is what will dictate Salinas' drive for a repeat. Creating ten turnovers is a good starting point.
