Hartnell-Mendocino football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (2-0) at Mendocino (1-1), 2 p.m.
Justyn Gutierrez has been impressive in his first two starts for the Panthers, throwing for 520 yards and seven touchdowns.
The North Salinas graduate is completing 59 percent of his passes for Hartnell with one interception in 62 attempts.
Of course, it helps having 6-foot-4 receiver Ronnie Turner, who has caught five touchdowns and is averaging 18.4 yards a reception.
Did the Panthers discover a running back in former King City standout Jacob Stephens, who had a 17-yard touchdown run and an 80 yard run last week.
Defensively Hildelv Manzur and Reggie McGee have combined for five sacks for the Panthers while Sergio Guzman has a team leading 13 tackles.
Hartnell's young secondary has to be aware of Mendocino receiver Danny Salazar, who has caught 17 passes, averaging just under 18 yards a catch.
After being humbled at home by 40 to Reedley, Mendocino bounced back with a three-point win at Gavilan last week to snap a 17-game losing streak..
While the Panthers have rattled off four straight conference titles, Mendocino is 1-19 in the last two years.
